The 48th edition of the Europe Top 16 was held in Switzerland. Tournament turned out a success for the German players. The 32-year-old Dimitrij Ovtcharov won his fifth Europe Top 16 title after beating the Belarussian legend Vladimir Samsonov in a hard-fought seven-set final match-up. His teammate, Timo Boll, in a similar fashion won the bronze, barely missing the final after a loss to Ovtcharov.
