The sixth edition of Europe Top 12 took place in Lübeck and local table tennis fans saw an exciting title race between Swedish international Kjell Johansson and the eventual winner of this tournament – the 30-year old Yugoslav star Dragutin Šurbek, who won 9 out of 11 games, losing only to Bengtsson (1-3) and Orlowski (0-3).
