Dimitrij Ovtcharov was born 2 September, 1988 in Kiev, Soviet Union (now Ukraine). He is a son of a former Soviet table tennis player Mikhail Ovtcharov.
The German international is a former World Ranking leader. Ovtcharov has compered in four Olympic Games and twice have reached the final in the teams event. He is a 10-time European champion – 8 times in team and twice in singles event. In 2017, Ovtcharov won the World Cup in Lüttich. He has won 5 Europe Top 16 titles in his career. On the national level, Ovtcharov is a 3-time German champion – twice in doubles and once, in singles event. On the professional circuit, Ovtcharov has won 14 titles in singles and two titles in doubles event. On the club level, the former World Ranking leader has won 7 Russian Premier League titles, two German Bundesliga titles, as well as one Belgian Superdivision and Greek A1 League title. Ovtcharov also won the Champions League 5 times.
