Zhu Yi (Chinese: 朱毅) was born 8 February, 1991 in China. He started to play table tennis at the age of 6. In his early days, Yi trained together with future internationals, like Xu Xin. Since he did not make it to the national team roster, Yi continued to play on the amateur level.
In 2018, he got recognition after his win over World Ranking leader Dimitrij Ovtcharov. Hainan Grandmaster Grand Prix. In 2020, Yi made his professional debut in Chinese Super League with Lexuan Sports Group team.
