Gabor Gergely was born 23 June, 1953 in Budapest, Hungary. He was one of the members of the Golden Generation of the Hungarian table tennis in 1970’s.
Gergely is a 2-time World champion – once in doubles and team events. He is a 4-time European champion – twice in team event, once in singles and doubles events. In 1978, Gergely won the Europe Top 16 tournament. On the professional tour circuit, he won one singles and 5 doubles titles. On the national level, Gergely is a 2-time Hungarian champion in doubles event. On the club level, Gergely won 7 Hungarian Extraliga titles, 5 ETTU Cup titles and one Champions League title.
