Elemer Gyetvai was born 12 July, 1927 in Kisterenye, Hungary.
He won the 1952 World Championships in team event. Gyetvai won 1958 European Championships in team event. He was a 5-time Hungarian champion – three times in singles and twice in doubles. On professional circuit, Gyetvai won one singles and one doubles title. On club level, he won two Hungarian Extraliga titles in his career.
