Infographic: The highest ranked players & favorites of European Table Tennis Championships

This tournament will bring together all the best names of the European table tennis. If we look on the 10 highest-ranked European players below, there is a mix of experience and ambitious young players, like the 22-year old Slovenian Darko Jorgič. He may be the less experienced on this list but he already has tasted the joy of winning a medal in this tournament. The only player, who is yet to win a medal at European Championships is the 27-year old Englishman Liam Pitchford. Who knows, maybe this year he can achieve the heights John Hilton once did?

Outside this list, you also cannot forget about the Swedish duo of Anton Källberg and Kristian Karlsson, who both just recently won the German Bundesliga title. Källberg has been on fire this season, losing just two games in the Bundesliga. Considering the fact that he had a great performance in the final, Swede might be in his top form for the ETTC. Karlsson also has been solid in the Bundesliga and he might bring some upsets as well.

You also cannot forget about the most experienced warriors – the 40-year old German legend Timo Boll and 45-year old Belarussian legend Vladimir Samsonov, who made his debut at the European Championships back in 1994, winning the bronze medal. Many of the participants were not yet born back then. This might be one of the last major tournaments for Samsonov so he will be highly motivated to finish his career on a high note.
