Jaroslav Štanek was born 24 February, 1940 in Opava, Czechoslovakia (now Czech Republic).
In 1967, Štanek won the bronze medal at the World Championships in doubles event. He won the 1964 European Championships in doubles event. On the professional circuit, Štanek won two singles and 6 doubles titles in his career. On the club level, Czech legend won 2 ETTU Cup and one Champions League title.
