Herbert Wunsch was born 23 February, 1917 in Vienna, Austria.
He was a 9-time German champion during the Nazi Germany era – 4 times in doubles, three times in mixed doubles and twice, in singles event. In 1946, Wunsch became the Austrian champion in doubles event. On professional circuit, he won one doubles title in his career.
