After the first dramatic meeting in Saarbrücken, TTF Liebherr Ochsenhausen was looking for a comeback. Same as the first time, this meeting turned out as a true nerve-wracking spectacle for the table tennis fans.
Ochsenhausen’s Hugo Calderano did a great job and brought both team’s wins. First, he easily managed to win the German Patrick Franziska 3-0. His second game was against a well-known opponent, Slovenian Darko Jorgic. This one was more competitive and Slovenian put up some fight. However, Calderano still got a comfortable 3-1 win.
Unfortunately for Ochsenhausen, Simon Gauzy and Samuel Kulczycki could not follow the footsteps of their teammate and they both lost to their respective opponents Shang Kun and Jorgic. They also lost a close 2-3 match up against the Franziska & Kun doubles pair in the decisive match.
For a third year in a row 1. FC Saarbrücken TT will be in the German Bundesliga finals. Last season, club won its first Bundesliga title. Can they make it two in a row? Borussia Düsseldorf won’t be an easy opponent to beat, as its leader Anton Källberg is in a really great form this season and you can never underestimate the experience of Timo Boll.
