The 18-year old Japanese star was one of the favorites of this tournament in terms of ranking. He was the third seed at this WTTC, being only behind Fan Zhendong and Hugo Calderano. However, Tomokazu Harimoto could not fulfill the hopes of the Japanese fans and was knocked out in the Round of 64 by the 2-time Polish champion Jakub Dyjas.
